I am a survivor of breast cancer since 2009.  I have found that cancer is an extremely personal journey: the same treatment for the same cancer does not always have the same effect on two different people.  I gave up a breast, but was lucky to be able to find the gift in my experience with this disease.  I am healthier now than I was in my 30's.   One of the bonuses of my journey was a deep immersion in epigenetics and anti-aging resources as a result of my treatment. I use these strategies to stay well, as well as to look and feel young!

Anti-Aging Strategies

Taking care of your health at mid life and beyond

These strategies apply to women at mid-life and beyond. Navigating these life passages can be quite challenging both psychologically and physically, above and beyond whatever major changes may be happening in your life.

Get coaching from someone who's been around the block and get healthier as you raise the quality of your life.

Diet, Nutrition & H2O

This is the number #1 priority for staying well and looking great: a nutritionally sound diet that works with your metabolism.  Luckily, the same diet principles that keep you well also help with weight loss.  Cut out processed foods, too much sugar, too many carbs and too much red meat.   Consult a nutritionist to determine what diet is best for your body.   And water!  Drink enough purified water to flush the toxins and keep your system hydrated.  This is a simple thing but critical to your optimal health and so often overlooked.

Exercise & Fitness

Move!  Recent studies show that frequent movement throughout the day is better for you than intense workouts if you spend most of your day sitting at your desk.   Simply walking is one of the best activities you can do for your body. Yoga, such as the Five Tibetan Rites, has an anti-aging effect.  Find a program or activity that you enjoy, and do it on a regular basis. Everything will improve, including your state of mind.

Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy

If you are peri-menopausal, menopausal or post menopausal, key hormone levels have decreased in your body.  If you have any symptoms such as hot flashes, low libido, feeling highly nervous, or your bone density is diminishing, find an anti-aging physician who can do a work up for you.  I use bioidentical hormones and other supplements and medications prescribed by my anti-aging doctor to keep me well and cancer-free.  Look for a physician who is board certified by the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine.

Meditation

Daily meditation for just 15 minutes has been shown to improve many health markers.  We live in a stressful world and stress takes a huge toll on your health.  Meditate to get your stress level down and think more clearly.
